Petra day 3: Dorotheus house and another look around
Nabatean enscription
It's our last day in Petra and we decide to take it easy.
After a late morning and long breakfast, we make our way to the site around 9 am. It's the hour when the groups starts. We walk past a few of them on our way to the Treasury and through the Siq.

It's still beautiful no matter how many times you walk this route.

I wanted to check the house of Dorotheus, which is a good 10/15 min after the tomb of Sextius Florentinus. In Petra museum they said it's 20 interconnected rooms carved in the cliff. I think that could be pretty interesting.

When we reach there however, it's quite underwhelming. There are many holes in the cliff a large concentration of them but not the maze I was imagining.

We backtrack to the main trail and walk the roman avenue. There is a free shuttle bus back to the visitor center, on the map it's below the byzantine church.
We head that way, a beautiful new waiting area is there, but we are told, the free shuttle doesn't come there. We need to walk another 10 min along the road ( and of course uphill ).
On the way we stop at the Turmeniyya tomb, where one of the best preserved Nabatean inscription is, and then we see the parking where these shuttles are located.

We wait 30min before the next one leaves. Then it stops at the cultural center, a brand new complex for the souvenirs sellers. We don't want to buy anything, but we wait another 25min there. Finally, we get to the visitor center, walking the Siq back would have been much faster.
The afternoon is spent resting and packing. We cook another good meal for diner. The vegetables really taste good in Jordan.
