A day of planning and exploring Quito historic center
Quito main plaza
We have a lot of stuff to do today – we have planned absolutely nothing for Colombia and Brazil. So it’s time to get into planning and booking the next few days.
First, we took care of laundry and then Alexis went downtown to change money and get Colombian Peso. Meanwhile, I went into booking hotels and some flights.
This morning, I got my credit card hacked as well – It was bound to happen. At least we got the notification on time, and could cancel it before any fraudulent transactions could happen. It’s just going to be a hassle to get a new one over. Luckily, we did plan for this eventuality and we can manage until it’s ready to be shipped to us.
We were pretty efficient and in the early afternoon we walk downtown to explore the historical district and around the main square of Quito. It’s a lovely district, very well maintained compared to Lima for example. We wandered around for a little while before finding a nice bakery for a light late lunch. We thought about taking a taxi to the statue at the top of the hill, but the weather started to turn pretty badly and went back to the hostel instead.
