A day of rest in Playa Del Carmen
Playa del carmen
It's been some times since we didn't have to set an alarm. We are generally early risers but it feels good to wake up naturally ( early still ) but most importantly, it's the lazy morning where you stay in your pajamas that feels awesome.
This airbnb is very comfortable and has everything we need. Today is a day we left free for souvenir shopping, and rest before going to Cozumel for more diving.
After seeing the aggression of the souvenir vendors when we walked those touristic pedestrian streets, we looked online for where you buy magnets and small gadgets. And the surprising answer? Walmart... Since everything in town is made in China anyway, in a way, that makes sense. At least the price will be fixed and not negotiable like with the downtown shops. We decide to check it out, because for a magnet and some salsa, that just feels like the right call.
There is a surprising decent choice there and we find all that we wanted, along with some snacks for lunch. On our way back, we stop to buy some fresh fruits.
Lunch is the last meal we have enough supplies to make with everything that's left in the fridge. It’s great, we need to clear it.
In the afternoon, I had half a mind to either go to the beach or the rooftop pool but the weather decided otherwise. It rained almost the entire time.
We stay cozy indoor and it's not that bad at all. I think we needed the rest and are a little travelled out, if I am being honest. This day of break is good for us.
As the rain stops, we take that as a sign that we should get out for diner. We had already eaten at El Fogon on the other side of town, and there is another branch nearby. Their tacos are some of the best we had at a very decent price. That's where we go and it doesn't disappoint.
As we go out of the restaurant, we get caught under a downpour. Big fat drops of rain, the kind that you don’t run through, because you will get drenched. We wait under an awning like everyone else .
It doesn't last long, probably 20min but it's all it took to flood the streets. At some crossings on our way back the water was mid shin.
The rest of the evening is spent resting and reading books in the comfort of our temporary home.
